EN 358 Personal Protective Equipment - To Ensure Working Safety At A Certain Height and To Prevent Falling - Retention Systems, Belts and Ropes for Working Position

The EN 358 standard, which is a European standard, describes the requirements for belts and lanyards for job positioning or holding purposes and test methods are presented. This standard also specifies the marking and the information provided by the manufacturer. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 358 Personal protective equipment - To ensure working safety at a certain height and to prevent falling - Grip systems, belts and ropes for working position.

EN 358 Personal Protective Equipment - To Ensure Working Safety At A Certain Height and To Prevent Falling - Retention Systems, Belts and Ropes for Working Position

This standard does not cover fixed length collars that are not integrated into a belt. Fixed length lanyards that are not integrated into a belt are covered by the EN 354 standard.

According to this standard, within the scope of dynamic performance tests, work positioning belts and lanyards are subjected to a drop test to create a shock load on the product. Since a free fall time is less in use, less force is applied to the work positioning belt or lanyard than to the anti-fall seat belt. Work positioning straps and straps are subjected to a 1 meter drop and in both cases the belt or lanyard is expected to hold securely.

In the static strength test, the straps are first rotated between 1 kN-5 kN without force, then 5 kN tensile force is applied to evaluate the slipping of the fabric between the buckles. The force is then increased to 15 kN for at least three minutes to ensure that the tensile strength of the product exceeds the force specified in the standard.

It also determines the minimum resistance of metallic components used in fall protection equipment against environmental corrosion, especially rust.It is subjected to the neutral salt spray test to propel it.

Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from all sectors with its wide range of testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies for years, has been providing working safety at a certain height within the scope of EN 358 personal protective equipment, within the scope of glove testing services, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. It also provides testing services for retention systems, belts and ropes used to ensure and prevent falls.
