EN 354 Personal Protective Equipment Against Falling - Fastening Devices

In the European standard EN 354, the requirements for the attachment of the equipment for protection against falls are explained and test methods are presented. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 354 Personal protective equipment against falling - Fastening devices.

EN 354 Personal Protective Equipment Against Falling - Fastening Devices

This standard specifies the requirements and test methods, as well as the marking, the information provided by the manufacturer, and the packaging properties for lanyards. It includes fasteners or components of personal fall protection systems such as lanyards, restraint systems, work positioning systems, rope access systems, fall arrest systems and rescue systems that conform to this standard.

Lanyards, with a variety of designs, lengths, materials and configurations, are a common component of the fall protection system used by those working at height. These components are subject to hazardous wear and tear during use and therefore rigorous testing is required. The new standard increases the amount of testing required to ensure that CE marked lanyards are fit for purpose.

The scope of the EN 354 standard has been expanded to include ropes with multiple configurations, as well as job positioning and limitation errors. For this reason, products such as work positioning collars are now covered by both the EN 354 and EN 358 standard (EN 358 Personal protective equipment - To ensure working safety at a certain height and prevent falling - Grip systems, belts and ropes for the working position). However, the EN 354 standard has not replaced the EN 358 standard.

The EN 354 standard is one of the first fall arrest standards to introduce specific conditioning requirements for samples. Test samples for at least 24 hours before testing. It needs to be conditioned at 23 degrees (plus / minus 5 degrees) 65 percent (plus / minus 5) relative humidity.

Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from every sector with its wide range of testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies for years, has been testing fastening devices within the scope of EN 354 personal protective equipment against falling, within the framework of glove testing services, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. also provides services.
