EN 14594 Respiratory Protective Devices - Continuous Flow Compressed Air Line Respirators - Properties, Tests, Marking (Old EN 1835)

The EN 14594 standard, a European standard, describes the requirements for apparatus used in abrasive spraying operations as a full-face mask, half-mask or a helmet, continuous flow compressed air line respirator and respiratory protective device including a headgear, and test methods are presented. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 14594 respiratory protective devices - Continuous flow compressed air line respirators - Properties, experiments, marking. This standard replaces the previous EN 1835 standard.

However, equipment used for escape and diving purposes is not covered by this standard.

The requirements in this standard are as follows: general, nominal values and tolerances, ergonomics, design, materials, practical performance, connections, body harness or belt, preconditioning, flammability, mobile compressed air supply systems, if any, for compressed air supply systems warning devices, compressed air supply pipe, breathing hose, air flow rates, adjustable parts, facepieces, internal leakage, breathing resistance, carbon dioxide content of inhaled air, tightness, control and warning facilities and resistance to abrasion.

The tests performed under the EN 12942 standard are: general, inspection, practical performance test, strength of breathing hose connections, resistance to collapsing of breathing hose, compressed air supply pipe, body harness and power of couplings, preconditioning, flammability, pressure-reducing relief valve, resistance to bending of the compressed air supply tube, resistance to collapse of the compressed air supply tube, heat resistance of the compressed air supply tube, carbon dioxide content of inhaled air, internal leakage, warning device, mechanical resistance of lenses or visors, breathing resistance, headgear, helmet, sound in suit level measurement, connecting power of exhalation valve, air feed rate, resistance to wear of protective clothing, effective mass supported by facepiece and tightness.

Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from every sector with its wide range of testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies for years, has been using continuous flow compressed air within the scope of EN 14594 respiratory protective devices, within the framework of glove testing services, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. It also provides line breathing apparatus testing services.
