In the EN 14387 standard, which is a European standard, the requirements for gas filters and combined filters used as components of respiratory protective equipment are explained and test methods are presented. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 14387 Respiratory protective devices - Gas filters and combined filters - Requirements, experiments and marking.
Choosing the right filter type is a critical point in selecting respiratory protective equipment. Protective equipment is completely ineffective if the wrong filter is used, such as a particle filter, to protect against gases. There are three basic types of filters in application: particulate filter, gas and vapor filter, and coalescing filters (for particles, gases and vapors).
Gas and vapor filters are divided into three classes: low capacity filters, medium capacity filters and high capacity filters. These are then further classified depending on the properties of the gas they protect.
Filters can also be combined or in a wide variety. Standard EN 133 is valid for this subject (EN 133 Respiratory protective devices - Classification).
Color coding of the filters is included in the EN 14387 standard. This table helps determine which filter type is required for certain pollutants. Namely,
Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from all sectors with its wide range of testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies for years, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the framework of glove testing services, gas filters and combined protection devices within the scope of EN 14387 respiratory protective devices. It also provides filter testing services.
