ASTM D6319-19 Standard Specification for Nitrile Examination Gloves for Medical Application

ASTM D6319-19 Standard Specification for Nitrile Examination Gloves for Medical Application

Developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the ASTM D6319-19 standard describes certain requirements for nitrile rubber gloves used in conducting medical examinations and diagnostic and treatment procedures. This standard covers both hand-fitting gloves and nitrile rubber examination gloves. It also includes packed sterile or non-sterile or bulk non-sterile nitrile rubber examination gloves. This specification is similar to the D3578 specification for rubber examination gloves (ASTM D3578-19 Standard specification for rubber examination gloves).

ASTM D6319-19 Standard Specification for Nitrile Examination Gloves for Medical Application

The ASTM D6319-19 standard includes test methods for evaluating the performance and safety of nitrile rubber gloves produced for use in medical examinations and diagnostic and treatment procedures.

During the tests, a lubricant approved for absorbable dust can be applied to the gloves. Other lubricants can be used provided their safety and effectiveness have been predetermined. There should be no talc on both the inner and outer surfaces of the glove.

All examination gloves for medical application must meet the required degree of sterility, non-perforations, physical requirements before and after aging, the amount of powder on the glove, tensile strength, and ultimate elongation.

Nitrile coated gloves are a type of glove made of synthetic rubber. The nitrile compound is a copolymer and the manufacturing process is quite similar to rubber production and is relatively simple. The main characteristics of seamless knit nylon gloves are good grip and dexterity. Solid nitrile coated fingers and palm wear, superior grip, extremely thin and very durable, and breathable for comfort. Cut resistance, abrasion resistance, tear resistance and puncture resistance tests of these gloves are performed in advanced laboratories.

The barrier performance of medical gloves varies depending on the glove material and the work performed. When choosing gloves for each occasion, it is necessary to consider benefits and limitations such as puncture resistance, durability, comfort, touch sensitivity and chemical resistance.

With the experience gained over many years, our organization also provides standard specification testing services for ASTM D6319-19 nitrile examination gloves for medical application, within the framework of laboratory services of materials with a trained and expert staff, to the demanding enterprises.
