EN 32781 Protective Clothing - Protective Clothing Against Pesticides

The EN 32781 standard, a European standard, describes the minimum requirements for mechanical strength and tightness for materials used in the production of protective clothing. During pesticide application, according to the specific exposure situation, the requirements of EN 14786 standard for penetration of agents must be followed (EN 14786 Protective clothing - Determination of penetration resistance of sprayed liquid chemicals, emulsions and dispersions - Atomizer test).

If undiluted concentrates are used, personal protective equipment such as protective gloves or visors or aprons against pesticides is required.

In general, the use of plant protection products contains some potential risks for humans and the environment. Depending on the exposure situation, personal protective clothing has an important protective function.

The EN 32781 standard applies to protective clothing used in studies for the application of plant protection products, field crops and greenhouse plants. According to the general structure of this standard, the first three paragraphs contain formulations, normative references and terms and definitions related to the field of application. The fourth paragraph describes the requirements for mechanical properties, comfort and impermeability to chemicals. The standard includes a table explaining the evaluation criteria, the relevant measurement categories and their acceptable limit values and the test methods to be used.

The most important value for the protection effect is the degree of penetration. The acceptable limit value is five percent. The mechanical strength values of disposable garments are 10N for tear resistance and have been deliberately kept low. Clothing damaged in this way should be changed immediately. Tear resistance for a reusable suit It is 20N. To ensure a reasonable ease of use, the water vapor volume resistance should not exceed 20 m2 Pa / W.

Seams and joints of a protective garment are often weak points. These should be designed to prevent liquids from penetrating. These tests should be performed together with the spray test presented in the EN 13034 standard. The seam strength should be tested according to EN ISO 13935-2 standard.

The fifth paragraph of the standard contains general performance requirements according to the EN 340 standard for all protective clothing and labeling information.

With the experience gained over many years, our organization also provides testing services for protective clothing against EN 32781 Pesticides, within the framework of laboratory services of materials with a trained and expert staff, to enterprises that demand.
