EN 1073-2 Protective Clothing Against Radioactive Pollution - Part 2: Requirements and Test Methods for Non-Ventilated Protective Clothing Against Particulate Radioactive Contamination

In the European standard EN 1073-2, the requirements for non-ventilated protective clothing that protect the user against particulate radioactive contamination are described and test methods are presented. This type of clothing is intended to protect the wearer's body, arms and legs only. However, it is used in conjunction with accessories that provide protection for other parts of the user, such as boots, gloves and respiratory protective equipment. Protection requirements for these regions are contained in other European standards. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 1073-2 Protective clothing against radioactive contamination - Part 2: Rules and test methods for non-ventilated protective clothing against radioactive contamination in particle form.

EN 1073-2 Protective Clothing Against Radioactive Pollution - Part 2: Requirements and Test Methods for Non-Ventilated Protective Clothing Against Particulate Radioactive Contamination

This standard does not apply to protection against ionizing radiation and the protection of patients against contamination with radioactive materials through diagnostic and therapeutic measures.

Protective clothing against radioactive contamination refers to protective clothing intended to provide protection against radioactive contamination to the skin and, if necessary, to the respiratory system. If the particle is to wear non-ventilated protective clothing against radioactive contamination, onlycuda are clothing intended to provide protection from particulate radioactive contamination and are not supplied with clean air to provide internal ventilation and positive pressure.

Protective clothing that is not ventilated against radioactive contamination must comply with the general requirements of the EN ISO 13688 standard (EN ISO 13688 Protective clothing - General characteristics). According to this standard, information on the ergonomics, harmlessness, display of size, aging, compatibility and marking of protective clothing must cover general performance requirements.

When designing protective clothing, protective clothing should be easy to put on and take off, and should be designed to minimize the risk of contamination and physiological stress. This type of clothing can be designed as disposable or reusable.

With the experience gained over many years, our organization also provides testing services for EN 1073-2 protective clothing against radioactive contamination, protective clothing against particulate radioactive contamination, within the framework of laboratory services of the materials with a trained and expert staff, to the demanding enterprises.
