EN 510 Protective Clothing Specification for Use in Places with Risk of Entanglement with Moving Parts

EN 510 Protective Clothing Specification for Use in Places with Risk of Entanglement with Moving Parts

Developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI), the BS EN 510 standard describes the design requirements and test methods of protective clothing that minimize the risk of entanglement or being drawn into moving parts while the user is working in or near dangerous moving machines. This standard complements the general requirements specified in EN ISO 13688 Protective clothing, general properties standard. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 510 Protective clothing - Features of protective clothing used in places where there is a risk of entanglement in moving parts.

EN 510 Protective Clothing Specification for Use in Places with Risk of Entanglement with Moving Parts

The said standard does not include protective clothing against injuries caused by special moving machinery parts subject to certain standards. For example, protective clothing for hand-held chainsaws is regulated in the EN ISO 11393 standard.

Specific requirements set for jackets in this standard are: no collar or turn-down collar to be closed to the neck, no external pockets, interior pockets only accessible from the inside, no folds, adjustable cuffs and straps to fit the body, if any. Apron and trousers should not have an external pocket, there should be an inner pocket with a cover on the chest, side openings should be completely closed, and the lower part of the pants legs should be adjustable to fit the body. Overalls should conform to jacket and trouser requirements, waist circumference should be adjustable from the inside, and sleeveless overalls should have a flexible back.

Protective clothing conforming to the standard must have CE mark, cleaning and maintenance symbols, the name or logo of the manufacturer, the type of clothing, the size description, a reference to the EN 510 standard and a pictogram (gear wheels).

In machines where two or more parts move together, machines where two components move towards each other, such as hydraulic cylinders, or machines and equipment created with exposed rotating components, there is always a danger of entanglement for employees..

With the experience gained over many years, our organization also provides BS EN 510 protective clothing testing services for use in places where there is a risk of entanglement with moving parts, within the framework of laboratory services of materials with a trained and expert staff.
