ASTM D1776 / D1776M-20 Standard Practice for Conditioning and Testing Textiles

ASTM D1776 / D1776M-20 Standard Practice for Conditioning and Testing Textiles

The ASTM D1776 standard, developed by the American Test and Materials Association (ASTM), describes the requirements for conditioning and testing textile products when conditioning is required in a test method. The full name of this standard is as follows: ASTM D1776 / D1776M-20 Standard practice for conditioning and testing textiles.

Previous exposure of textile products to high or low humidity affects the balance moisture intake. This standard also provides a procedure for preconditioning the material when specified. Equipment to be used in conditioning and testing textile products are: conditioning chamber or chamber, psychrometer ventilated by aspiration, preconditioning cabinet, chamber or suitable container, balance and multiple conditioning rack.

The air-conditioning chamber or chamber includes equipment to provide standard air conditions for testing textiles throughout the room or compartment within given tolerances, and facilities to allow air circulation over all surfaces of the exposed sample and equipment to record temperature and relative humidity.

Samples that require preconditioning are brought to a relatively low moisture content in a given atmosphere. Samples that require conditioning are brought to the standard atmosphere for testing textiles or to moisture balance for testing when necessary.

The air conditioning cabinet used during the tests consists of equipment that maintains the atmosphere throughout the enclosure within the durability, including possibilities for air circulation over all surfaces of the exposed sample to monitor the relative temperature and humidity of the air inside. By adjusting the standard atmosphere to test the textile sample, test samples, cliIt is contacted with moisture in the ma room.

The ASTM D1776 standard does not claim to address all of the safety concerns for its use. It is the responsibility of the enterprises using this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and to determine the applicability of the restrictions in legal regulations before use.

With the experience gained over many years, our organization also provides standard testing services for the conditioning and testing of ASTM D1776 / D1776M-20 textiles within the framework of laboratory services of materials with a trained and expert staff.
