EN 50365 Electrically Insulated Heads for Use in Low Voltage Facilities

EN 50365 Electrically Insulated Heads for Use in Low Voltage Facilities

In the EN 50365 standard, which is a European standard, the requirements for electrically insulated helmets used in low voltage facilities are explained and test methods are presented. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 50365 Electrically insulated heads for use in low voltage installations.

EN 50365 Electrically Insulated Heads for Use in Low Voltage Facilities

Helmets used in working environments where there is potential to contact with 1000 Volt alternating current or 1500 Volt direct current high voltage electrical potential must be passed through electrical insulation tests in accordance with EN 50365 standard.

The said standard is above the electrical requirements in the EN 443 standard and the resistance requirements in the EN 397 and EN 812 standards. The test method presented is very close to the wet helmet test described in these standards: first the helmet shell is filled with water and then floated in a water tank. Electrodes are placed in the water inside and outside the helmet and a potential of 5-10 thousand Volts is applied between the two. The current flowing through the helmet should not exceed 3,5 mA and there should be no puncture or material deterioration in the helmet.

While applying the EN 50365 standard, helmets are primarily sanded and subjected to mechanical wear. It is also immersed in water for 24 hours to remove the protective layers during use.

In short, electrically insulated industrial helmets are intended to provide protection against impacts and punctures for the user. However, in more dangerous conditions of use, the ability of these helmets to protect against serious injury or death may be insufficient. Helmets designed and manufactured in accordance with this standard meet reasonable expectations of impact and penetration protection against falling objects in industrial applications.

If there are extreme or serious hazards that require protective performance beyond the levels specified in the standard, it is necessary to stay away from the work area until the hazards are reduced or eliminated.

Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from all sectors with its wide range of testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies for years, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the framework of glove testing services, electrically insulated head for use in EN 50365 low voltage facilities. It also provides testing services.
