In the EN 13911 standard, which is a European standard, the requirements for fire protection clothing worn to protect against heat and fire during fire fighting activities are explained and test methods are presented. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 13911 Protective clothing for firefighters - Requirements and test methods for fire caps for firefighters.
This standard is valid when a protective clothing under the EN 469 standard, a breathing apparatus under EN 136 and EN 137 standards, and a helmet under the EN 443 standard are used.
The first helmets developed were to protect firefighters' heads from falling objects or debris from above. The wide rear of the helmet is designed to prevent hot water and hot embers from reaching the firefighter's neck or falling into his jacket.
Today, helmets with various features are produced for structural fire fighting, automatic rescue, forest fires and all other emergency response. These helmets provide 360 degree protection for the heads from physical hazards. It provides some degree of hearing protection against noise pollution. Includes add-ons such as eye and face protection and lighting. Built-in speaker and microphone provide a powerful communication opportunity. It is easily disassembled, cleaned and decontaminated to reduce the risk of toxic chemicals and carcinogens remaining in the helmet or suspension system.
