The requirements in this standard are addressed on the condition that the sound attenuation of hearing protectors measured according to the EN ISO 4869-1 standard is not less than the specified minimum value (EN ISO 4869-1 Acoustics - Hearing protection - The subjective method of noise absorption measurement).

This part of the EN 352 standard addresses specific requirements for ear muffs worn on industrial safety helmets. According to the EN 352-3 standard, products are tested for all the features in the EN 352-1 standard, as well as special test methods for helmet-wearing ear protectors.

According to the EN 352-3 standard, the marks to be included in the ear muffs are the standard number, manufacturer and model identification, as well as direction indicators in the form of top, left or right when necessary.

Protective earmuffs that are in the EN 352-3 standard, worn on an industrial safety helmet, are among the requirements, According to the materials and construction requirements, it must be ensured that the materials used in the manufacture of the device that contact the skin do not leave stains and cause irritation, allergic reaction or other health problems on the skin. The materials and construction assessment also verifies that the device is safe for use and that the specified cleaning and disinfection methods do not cause any damage or deterioration to the hearing protection.

In addition, the sizing and adjustability of the ear muffs must be in accordance with the head sizes determined by the manufacturer of the product. In this way, it is confirmed that the product can adapt to the targeted consumer.
