EN 379 Personal Eye Protection - Automatic Welding Filters

EN 379 Personal Eye Protection - Automatic Welding Filters

The European standard EN 379 describes the requirements and test methods for automatic welding filters that change the light transmission to a predetermined lower value when a welding arc is ignited. These filters are called resource filters with changeable scale numbers. Requirements are also stated for automatic welding filters that change the light transmittance to a lower value. Here, the low value of light transmittance is automatically adjusted depending on the light produced by the welding arc. These filters are also called source filters with automatic scale number adjustment. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 379 Personal eye protection - Automatic welding filters.

If this type of filter is to be used for continuous monitoring of the welding process and only during the ignition period of the arc, the requirements of the EN 379 standard apply.

These filters are used in welders' eye protection or fixed to the equipment. If they are to be used in welders' eye protection, other applicable requirements for this type of filter are detailed in the EN 166 standard (EN 166 Personal eye protection - Properties). Requirements for frames or assemblies intended to be installed are contained in the EN 175 standard. The criteria for the selection and use of these filters are included in the standard appendix. The features of non-switchable light transmittance welding filters are included in the EN 169 standard.

Not knowing the eye protection safety standards and the newly released auto-darkening lens technology leads to incorrect welding mask selection. Standard or passive welding masks are still widely used today. The lenses of these glasses are coated glass against ultraviolet and infrared rays. The welder uses this table easily. Auto-darkening masks prevent many problems. These masks have electronic filters instead of standard colored glass. Several sensors that detect welding arc at the edges of the lens .

Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from all sectors with its wide range of testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies for years, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the framework of glove testing services, automatic welding filter testing services within the scope of EN 379 personal eye protection. also serves.
