EN 168 Personal Eye Protection - Non-Optics Test Methods

EN 168 Personal Eye Protection - Non-Optics Test Methods

In the European standard EN 168, non-optical test methods for protective glasses, for example, provide requirements for strength, durability, ignition resistance, chemical resistance and impact resistance. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS 5558 EN 168 Personal eye protection - Non-optics test methods.

The basic requirements in these tests include visual field, conduction and diffusion, refraction properties and durability, resistance to aging, heat stability and resistance to ultraviolet rays, and evaluations for corrosion and ignition.

The main purpose of these tests is to ensure that the glasses do not obstruct or disrupt the user's vision and that sufficient light enters the wearer's eyes. In particular, the visual field test is done to make sure nothing is blocking the view in or around the lenses. Refraction tests include three test procedures: spherical, astigmatic and refractive forces.

The basic standard for glasses intended for use as personal protective equipment in working environments is generally EN 166 (EN 166 Personal eye protection - Properties). Optical test methods for protective glasses are specified in EN 167 standard (EN 167 Personal eye protection - Optical test methods). This standard describes the minimum requirements for a set of performance tests. Non-optical test methods are described in the EN 168 standard.

Safety glasses protect eyes against harmful influences such as intense light, ultraviolet radiation, splashes of liquid, dust, splinters or weather conditionsakta. Eye protection typically provides additional protection against high energy shocks, splashes or dust as it seals all around. These are held in place by an adjustable headband. Choosing and using appropriate eye protection requires a detailed risk analysis of the workplace and potential hazards.

Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from all sectors with its wide range of testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies for years, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the framework of glove testing services, EN 168 personal eye protection non-optics testing services also serves.
