The EN 511 standard, a European standard, describes the requirements and test methods for how well a protective glove resists both convective cold and contact cold. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 511 Protective gloves against cold.
It is extremely important to protect hands from cold burns in cold weather conditions. During these tests, water permeability after 5 minutes is also determined along with the resistance of protective gloves against cold.
The performance of such protective gloves according to this standard is indicated by three numbers. The higher this number, the better the performance level of the glove.
The first number indicates how well the material is protected against convective cold. The level of protection is shown on a scale from 0 to 4.
The second number indicates how well the material is protected against cold. The level of protection is shown on a scale from 0 to 4.
The third number indicates how well the material is protected against water infiltration. Protection level 0 indicates that water penetrates into the material after 5 minutes, while 1 indicates no water penetration after 5 minutes.
