EN 1650 Chemical Disinfectants and Antiseptics - Quantitative Suspension Test for Evaluation of Fungicidal or Yeast Killing Activity of Chemical Disinfectants and Antiseptics Used in Food, Industrial, Domestic and Institutional Fields

The EN 1650 standard, a European standard, describes the minimum requirements for the fungicidal or yeasticidal activity of chemical disinfectant and antiseptic products that form a homogeneous and physically stable preparation when diluted with hard water or in the case of ready-to-use products, and a test method is presented. In this test method, products are tested only at a concentration of 80 percent or less.

This standard applies to products used in food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas, except in areas and situations where medical disinfection is indicated.

In short, the EN 1650 test method is a European standard used to determine antivirus. This standard is very similar to the ASTM E2315 standard developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).

Briefly, in the EN 1650 test method, fungal cultures are grown and then inoculated into the liquid test substance. Before inoculation, fungal cultures are diluted to simulate clean or dirty conditions. The solution is mixed, then one or more contact times are left to rest. After the contact times have passed, samples of the mixture are neutralized and evaluated using ordinary microbiological dilution and coating techniques. At the end of the test, populations are compared to determine microbial reduction.

EN 1650 test method is applied for disinfectants to be used in various fields. The addition of an appropriate interfering agent creates a more realistic testing environment for the test item.

This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 1650 Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics - Evaluation of fungus formation or fermentation in chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industry, domestic and industrial areas - Test method and properties (phase 2, step 1 ).

With the experience gained over many years, our organization also provides suspension testing services for the evaluation of fungicidal or yeasticidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in EN 1650 Food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas within the framework of laboratory services of the materials with a trained and expert staff.
