EN 50321-1 Working Under Voltage - Footwear for Electrical Protection - Insulating Footwear and Overshoes

EN ISO 50321-1, a European standard, describes the requirements for personal protective equipment shoes such as electrically insulated shoes and boots that protect workers against electric shock and are used to work close to live parts in installations up to 36000 Volt alternating current or 25000 Volt direct current. methods are presented. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: EN 50321-1 Working under voltage - Footwear for electrical protection - Insulating footwear and shoe covers.

EN 50321-1 Working Under Voltage - Footwear for Electrical Protection - Insulating Footwear and Overshoes

Electrically insulated shoes are shoes that prevent the dangerous current for human health from passing to the body through the foot and protect the wearer against electrical shocks.

When used with other electrically insulated protective equipment such as protective shoes, gloves and blankets covered by this standard, it prevents dangerous current from passing through the feet. Antistatic and conductive shoes are outside the scope of this standard.

Non-electrical tests to be applied to such shoes are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the following standards, depending on the way the product is used:

  • EN ISO 20344 Personal protective equipment - Test methods for footwear
  • EN ISO 20345 Personal protective equipment - Safety footwear
  • EN ISO 20346 Personal protective equipment - Protective footwear
  • EN ISO 20347 Personal protective equipment - Work footwear

Electrical tests are generally withstand voltage test and resistance voltage test performed in accordance with EN 60060-2 High voltage test techniques - Part 2: Measurement systems standard, according to the classification of insulated shoes.

The EN 50321 standard also contains marking, packaging, instructions for use and many other information for such protective shoes.

Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from all sectors with its wide range of testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies for years, is used for electrical protection purposes in work under EN 50321-1 voltage, within the framework of glove testing services, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. It also provides testing services for insulating footwear and shoe covers.
